Growing up in a Military family, David learned the value of hard work early. He picked up odd jobs on farms raising chickens and growing small crops as a boy. In High School, David met and fell in love with Leslie, his wife of over 40 years. They were married in 1981 and started in a single-wide mobile home. Today, David runs his small family business with his sons, building custom homes.

Serving his neighbor was something David’s parents instilled in him. In 2017 David was awarded the Friend of the Veterans Medal and received a Lifetime Honorary Membership from the VFW Post 9896. The year prior, he received the Iron Cross for Public Safety from local firefighters for his support of public safety.

David’s passion for serving led him to public service in 1991 when he was first elected to the Chowchilla City Council. He would represent Chowchilla for eight years as Councilman, Vice-Mayor, and Mayor.

When David was first elected to the Madera County Board of Supervisors, it was operating at a deficit. Today, the budget is balanced, and Madera County has a reserve due to the hard work of David and his fellow Supervisors.

Under David’s leadership, Madera County has also become one of the Nation’s fastest-growing agriculture and manufacturing economies. As a result, it ranked on Forbes’ best places to do business list, and its bond rating went from failing to AA.

Widely considered by his peers as a leading Water Expert in the Central Valley, David serves on the Madera County Joint Powers Authority on Water and the Ground Water Sustainability Agency formation. He also sits on the San Joaquin Valley Water Infrastructure Authority.
