Public Safety is David’s number one priority; that is why he is endorsed by the Madera County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association and Cal Fire Local 2881. Every year David and the Board of Supervisors have increased investment in public safety, including increased deputies, expanded jail, and a new Justice Center. Financing state-of-the-art technology and methods have also cut response times significantly. In addition, Madera County has recently built two fire stations and upgraded capital equipment. In 2016, Cal Fire Local 2881 awarded David the Iron Cross for his commitment and dedication to local firefighters.

Turned Budget Deficits into Surpluses
When David was first elected to the Madera County Board of Supervisors, it was operating at a deficit. Today, the budget is balanced, and Madera County has a reserve due to the hard work of David and his fellow Supervisors. This was done without raising taxes and while cutting fees.

Under David’s leadership, Madera County has also become one of the Nation’s fastest-growing agriculture and manufacturing economies. As a result, it ranked on Forbes’ best places to do business list, and its bond rating went from failing to AA.
